Lilypad - Vibe Board

vibe.jpg

Description:

Vibrates - just like your mobile phone when it rings and is set to silent.

Connecting:

1. Connect the negative petal on the Vibe to the negative petal on the Lilypad Main Board.
2. Connect the positive petal on the Vibe to one of the digital I/O pins e.g. 9.

NB: If you are using alligator leads to prototype then make sure that the teeth of your clips make good contact with the metal parts of the sensor petals. If not, you will get inconsistent results.

Controlling:

The vibe will vibrate whenever you send power to it (i.e. set its pin value to HIGH using a digital write command). For example, if you connect the vibe to pin 13 and upload the Blink example Arduino script (File > Examples > Digital > Blink) then the vibe will vibrate when ever the LED turns on.

If you connect the vibe to any of the PWM pins (3,5,6, 9,10 and 11) then it can also be set to a range of values (0-255). To see this in action try the Arduino fading example script (File > Examples > Analog > Fading) with the vibe connected to pin 9.

You could also map an analog sensor input to the vibe output in a similar way to the way we mapped an LED value to the light sensor on the light sensor page.
